Hi,
Last Friday I went along to the latest London lunch, a bi-monthly
event run by my friend Martin Avis. These events always provide a
great opportunity to network with fellow Internet entrepreneurs
in a no-pitch environment. It’s actually a bit misleading to call
them ‘lunch’ because although we do start with a very nice lunch
most of us are still there late into the evening. I’m sure there
are lots of JVs started at this event.
While chatting with someone there who I had not met before about
how he was doing online, it seemed that he was not yet where he
wanted to be. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was
trying to make money as an affiliate marketer.
I asked him if he had purchased any of the courses that I
recommend for affiliate marketers, the ones down at the bottom of
my newsletters. I went through each course giving him my take on
each one. I suggested that if he had been online for a while the
Unstoppable Affiliate program was a good place to start. Although
this program is suitable for absolute newbies as well, if you
already have some knowledge of the Internet you will get up and
making money very quickly with this course. He said that he had
already bought it.
I outlined the content of Christine Clayfield’s Newbie to
millionaire course explaining that it started at an even more
basic level than Unstoppable Affiliate. People with some
affiliate marketing knowledge could skip to chapter 3, although I
recommend starting at the beginning. He said he had already
bought it.
This obviously raised the question of how long he had been
online, what courses he had purchased and what he had done with
them. He had been online line for quite a long time and become to
use his words ‘a perpetual learner’.
Beware of the student syndrome
What this guy had just explained to me happens to the greater majority
of people turning to the Internet to make money. I know this for
a fact because it happened to me for years.
When we start out online we know little or nothing about doing business
online. We read a sales letter from someone who’s seemingly making a
fortune and that if we follow their course we will do the same, we don’t
know at that stage that it could just be BS. We buy the course.
We download it and before we can unzip it and start putting it
into practice we get another offer that looks like it will get us
to our goal quicker, so we buy that one as well. This happens
time after time and slowly our hard drive gets filled up with
courses, coaching material, memberships to this and that and before we
know it we are in the deadly embrace of the perpetual learner.
We feel that this latest program is finally the one that will get
us out of the mess that we are now in. You see, all of the money
that we spend on these things just gets us deeper and deeper in
debt. With each additional product that we buy we become more
desperate to make something work. Desperate people do desperate
things. Often times the price we pay for these solutions gets bigger
over time. We begin to feel that if we pay the premium price
being asked for this coaching program we will be guaranteed
success at last.
Strangely, we get comfort from reading these success stories. I
got to the stage where just reading about someone else’s success
somehow made me feel successful, even though I wasn’t making a
dime.
The sad truth is that if we had worked methodically through many
of the programs we bought one, two, three years before we would
already be successful beyond our wildest dreams.
It took a long time for me to step back and realize that I had become a
perpetual student and that I needed to take action. When I did,
things started to happen. That’s why I call my newsletter, Action
Today. Not tomorrow, next week, nearly there now – Action Today.
If you are reading this and still not financially independent,
than I urge you to pick one of my recommended niche affiliate
marketing programs at the bottom of this email and work through
it. Don’t buy anything else, there really isn’t any need. Block
everything else out and stick to it.
Be realistic, none of these programs will make you money overnight,
and none of them promise that you will. They are genuine, ‘this is
what you do’ programs. I’ve used them all, created sites as I worked
through them and made money from those sites.
I’m currently coaching 2 of my outsource workers on Matt Carter’s
Rapid Profit Formula so that they can go off and create more
sites for me when they are fully trained. I added this program to
my recommended list today because it also delivers on its
promise.
Don’t waste any more time or money on anything else. If you
already have one of the three programs I recommend, use it – put
it into practice now.
If you don’t buy one now and work through it. They are all excellent.
Of the three my current favorite is Matt Carter’s only because he has
just posted an update following the latest Google changes. I like the
fact that his course will always be current with the endless Google
algorithm changes.

our life is at the moment (the effects) we need to change the
causes. Our experiences in life today are the results of the
things we did in the past. If we want things to change in the
future we need to change what we do today.

When planning your tasks for the day, many of us create a list of
too many items. Having too long a list of things to do can work
against our efficiency and hold us back. Having created our
initial long list I suggest that you identify the one thing that
you must get done today no matter what and put that on the top of
a new list. Then, go back to the long list and select one more
item that must be done and add that in second place on your new
list.
Now put your long list away and work on just those two items in
order of importance until they are done. If you still have time
to get more done go back to your long list and select up to 2
more, maximum 2 more only. Then work on those in order until
completed.
