Hi,

Just one week to go now before the Christmas celebrations.
Hopefully, time to forget business for a few days and enjoy the
company of family and friends, give and receive presents and
generally relax.

And talking about giving presents, I have one for you, one of my
loyal subscribers. One of the cornerstones of any online business
is your newsletter or at the least your regular correspondence
with your subscribers. I know several people who make the bulk of
their income from their list. My good friend, Martin
Avis, is one of them. He has been running his newsletter
Kickstart Daily, for over 10 years now.

Earlier this year he decided to write down everything he has
learned about running a profitable newsletter over those 10 plus
years and make it available so that other people could follow his
successful blueprint. I helped Martin with proofreading and know
the content inside out and can highly recommend it. If you have
any thoughts of starting a newsletter or improving the one you
have you won’t find a better guide than this one.

It’s still available at http://trevor.linktrackr.com/ezineacademy

And to stay with the subject of running a successful ezine I have
a gift for you – Ezine Traffic Formula. Even if you don’t run
your own ezine (or newsletter – same thing) you can still make
money by placing ads for your own or affiliate products in other
people’s ezines. Ezine Traffic Formula tells you all you need to know
about buying ad slots, running solo ads etc. Grab your free copy
as my gift to you here,

How was your 2011?
I always take time between Christmas and New Year to look back
over the past year and review how things went. I believe that
although we need to be looking forward, keeping our vision of
where we want to be in the coming months and years firmly in our
mind at all times, it is useful to look back over the past year
and identify lessons learned. Analyze what worked and what didn’t
and make sure that we implement those learned lessons in the
future.

I know that I haven’t achieved everything that I was planning for
this year and am already thinking of the changes I’m going to
make next year. One of the immediate things that I’ve identified
is that I’ve still been too hands-on this year. Next year I’m
going to outsource even more of my business.

Incidentally, I’ve had emails from a few people saying that, yes
they know outsourcing will help their business to grow – great if
you can afford it. Not everyone can afford even the much lower
costs of outsourcing to the Philippines for example. If that’s
you at the moment, don’t beat yourself up about it, we all
started there.

So what can you do about it? Find a JV partner. Is there
something that you are especially good at? Are you a technical
type, find creating WordPress blogs easy? Maybe you are good at
writing, or creating videos or doing blog posting or … Check
out the forums and find someone who needs your skill in exchange
for theirs. Find someone to work with. Offer your services on
Fiverr.com and maybe one of your customers will become your joint
venture partner.

I’ll let you know what I’m going to be doing in 2012 after the
holiday break when I’ve had time to do a proper review, but I
already know that I’m going to outsource more of my work and
market my business a lot more.

I’m going to be doing more ezine advertising, more list building
activity and concentrate my niche sites on building bigger
authority sites. I’m going to include eCommerce sites among them
since it seems that Google favor eCommerce sites.

So what are you going to be doing different next year? Maybe you
had a very good year and don’t want to change anything – if
that’s the case tell us about it. If things didn’t go as planned
tell us what you are going to change. We can maybe all learn from
you.

This last year has seen more changes from Google than any that I
can remember. We have also seen the continued growth of Facebook
and how it is being used to drive business. I’ve not done much
with Facebook to date but am going to start including it in my
activities in 2012.

My thoughts going into 2012 are that we will see more Google
‘slaps’ as they continue on their mission to clear out all of the
rubbish content on the web. Quality sites will be even more
important going forward. Bigger sites, minimum 10 pages but going
right up to hundreds will be more acceptable. I think we are now
in the era of sites built around a market rather than a niche.

I’ve said for a long time that they way to start niche research
is to begin with a market and identify niches within it. When you
work with a market it is much easier to cross-sell between lists.
For example, if you’re working within the dog market people on
your dog agility list will be interested in your dog grooming
offers and your dog training offers etc. Do you see the benefit
in working this way?

So big authority sites built around a market stand the best
chance of not getting hammered by Google. Comparison sites or
sites with a price comparison element on them will do well as
will eCommerce stores. All of these options are still possible
with WordPress with the many plugins available now so no need to
learn how to use another software solution.

Those are my starters for 10, I’ll update them in the New Year.

One of the new tools that I’m adding to my toolkit is the
Directory of Ezines. I said that I’m going to increase the amount
of marketing that I’m doing by placing ads in other ezines and
Directory of Ezines is going to be great for that.

I’m also going to checking out the Warrior Forum regularly for
people offering solo ads and ad swaps. If you’re not already a
member of the Warrior Forum you should be. It’s the best source
of Internet marketing intelligence on the web in my view.

Before you go ahead and buy that next product, check it out on
the Warrior Forum, you’ll get genuine reviews there.

The Thought For Today
_________________________________________________________________

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a
single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a
deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep
mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we
wish to dominate our lives.

Henry David Thoreau

Action Help
_________________________________________________________________

Write down a list of your strengths and weaknesses. Be brutally
honest with yourself, what are you good at and what are you not
good at. We are often taught to work on our weaknesses but I’m
going to suggest the opposite.

Build on your strengths and manage your weaknesses. An expert
in any field is the person who is exceptional at generally one thing.
If you continually build on your strengths you will become that expert.

Manage your weaknesses and as and when you can afford it, get
someone else to do those things that you are not good at while
you continue to build your strengths.
