I Don’t Know What To Write About

I don’t know what to write about. Have you ever felt like that? This is a problem that one of my subscribers asked me about recently and I’m sure it affects us all from time to time.

He has his blog and knows that he should provide regular content for his visitors but even though he knows his subject very well he finds it very difficult to know what to write about.

It’s one thing knowing your subject but being able to write about it is something else, something that many people find difficult.

When I get stuck I use this technique that always gets me started.

Let’s take my blog as an example, I write about techniques and strategies in the Internet Marketing niche.

It’s time to write a blog post and I don’t have a topic in mind today so this is what I do. I think of one aspect of Internet Marketing that a student might be having difficulty with and visualize him/her asking me a question about it.

For example, let’s suppose that my student is having difficulty getting traffic to his site. I turn that problem into the question – “How do I get traffic to my blog” and then set out to answer it.

I write a few bullet points about the different traffic sources that my student could incorporate in to a traffic strategy.

For example I would write;

  • Blog commenting
  • Forum commenting
  • Social media
    • Squidoo
    • Hub pages
    • Facebook
    • Twitter
  • Joint ventures

Etc.

Then I would write a small piece about each item on my list and before I know it I have a nice informative blog post that my visitors will find helpful.

Next time you get stuck for something to write try this technique and let me know how you get on. Post me a comment below and if you have a question that you would like help with post that too.
