Overcoming Mid Six Figures of Debt
Dennis had mid six figures of debt, between 10 and 20 maxed out credit cards, home equity line of credit all used up, bills to pay tomorrow and no way to pay them except to try and get more credit cards and nothing he had tried online was working. Despite all of this, he found a way out.

In the last couple of weeks I’ve discovered Dennis Becker. Even though I’ve been online over 15 years now, I must admit that I had never stumbled across Dennis. That in itself is a surprise since I’ve pretty much met or heard of just about anybody that is well known online. What’s more surprising though is the impact that Dennis has had on my life. Saying that something is life-changing is becoming something of a cliché these days but this really has been.
His story about the massive debt that he had built up trying to keep an offline business going, how there were nights that he couldn’t sleep because he couldn’t breathe – the debt was so suffocating, the constant worry of how to pay the bills next day with no money coming in and yet more credit getting harder to get will inspire you as it has me.
He had tried and failed at everything online, spending more money he didn’t have on yet more magic buttons, what he calls bright shiny objects.
He had progressed from school to the Army, into computer programming, then software support manager when he decided to become a self-employed consultant all over the US.
After 8 years of that beaten down by the travel and totally burned out he decided to invest what money he had into a local retail store.
If that was the end of his story it would have little relevance to anyone trying to make their way online. It is fortunate for us, and fortunate for Dennis as it turned out, that it didn’t.
Life at the store didn’t have a fairy tale ending. Dennis found himself trying everything he could to make money online – resell rights, email list building, ezines, blogging, Google Adwords, Adsense, Ebay, niche sites, Public Domain content, affiliate marketing – nothing worked.
He was telling himself that he still believed, but down inside he had doubts that he would ever make it. Have you ever felt like that, are you in that situation now like Dennis was?
He considered bankruptcy but couldn’t go through with for fear of what people might think of him. He tried to get more credit cards but was refused.
Something had to change – I guess he finally realized that if he kept on doing what he had been doing he would keep getting what he was getting.
He did make some changes and the results have been spectacular proving beyond doubt that no matter how bad things are, there is a way out.
